How to Start & Use Quest Mode
Ellie & Ember’s Quest: Quick Guide
Quest Mode is now live inside Imagix.
Here’s everything you need to know to get started — and what to expect as you play.
Getting Ready (One-Time Setup)
Most devices are already ready for Quest Mode. No complicated setup required.
1. Make sure your Imagix app is up to date
- Any Imagix Portal app released after December 2025 supports Quest Mode.
- For most users, the app updates automatically.
2. Confirm your device is on Firmware 1.11
Open the Imagix app and check that your device firmware shows v1.11.
- This update installs automatically over Wi-Fi
- No manual action needed in most cases
3. Install the Quest skill
In the app, you’ll see a prompt to install Quest Mode.
- ✅ Install Quest
- ❌ You do not need to install or update the System skill
- Download time: about 15 minutes
That’s it, you’re ready!
Starting the Quest
Once Quest Mode is installed:
- Wake Ellie or Ember
Press the action button or say their name - Starting or Continuing the Quest
The easiest way to begin is to say “Play the quest.”
Ellie and Ember also understand natural phrases like start, continue, or resume the quest.
A cinematic moment begins, and the story starts automatically.
No menus. No extra steps.
Playing as Ellie and Ember
Ellie and Ember each have their own version of the Quest.
- You can play both
- Their stories are similar but different
- Each reveals unique moments and perspectives
Switching characters?
When you switch from Ellie to Ember (or vice versa):
- The app will automatically show “New skill available”
- You only need to install the Quest skill for that character
- No firmware update is required again
You don’t need to force-close the app — the update prompt appears automatically.
While You’re in Quest Mode
Can I interrupt the quest by voice?
- ❌ Saying “Hi Ellie” or “Hey Ember” will not interrupt Quest Mode
- ✅ You can interrupt at any time by pressing the action button
How do I exit the quest?
You can leave Quest Mode at any time by saying:
- “Stop the quest”
- “Stop the game”
If you say something unsupported, Ellie or Ember will gently guide you with the correct options.
This keeps the story immersive while still giving you control.
Can I fail the quest?
No — Quest Mode is designed to be supportive and story-first.
- You may be asked to repeat riddles or activities
- Ellie or Ember will help you try again
- The story always moves forward
When You Finish the Current Story
After completing Chapter 5 of Act I:
- The story plays a closing moment
- Your device returns to open chat
- Your progress is saved
You’ve completed all available Quest content for now — and more is coming soon.
Replaying the Quest (Coming February 10)
After you complete all available chapters in Quest Mode, Ellie or Ember will let you know that you’ve reached the end of the current story.
Right now:
- Quest Mode is designed to be experienced from beginning to end
- Your progress is saved automatically
- More story chapters are coming soon
Starting February 10:
You’ll be able to replay any chapter by voice.
Examples:
- “I want to play Chapter 1.”
- “Play Chapter 3.”
Your original progress will always be remembered, even when replaying earlier chapters.
If you say “Play the quest” after finishing all chapters, Ellie or Ember will let you know:
- You’ve completed the current story
- New chapters are coming in future updates
- You can replay any chapter you like
