Changing Your Character
Switch from Ellie to Ember—or back again.
Follow these steps to experience the other character’s story without losing your profile or progress.
Overview
When you first set up your Imagix Crystal Ball, you select one character—Ellie the fairy or Ember the baby dragon.
The device is designed for deep story progression with your chosen companion, and later in the adventure you’ll unlock the ability to hot-swap characters instantly within the story.
However, if you’d like to experience the other character before that feature is unlocked, you can manually re-pair your device to switch characters. This process resets the device connection but keeps your profile and saved data in the Imagix Portal app.
Before You Begin
You’ll need:
- Your Imagix Crystal Ball
- The Imagix Portal app
- Access to your Wi-Fi network
Note: This process removes the current device link from your profile but does not delete the profile itself.
Step-by-Step: Switching Characters
Step 1
Open the Profile screen and select your child’s profile.
Step 2
Tap Device Settings, then choose Delete Device and confirm Remove from Account.
Step 3
Return to your profile screen and select your profile. You’ll now see the “Connect Your Crystal Ball” prompt.
Step 4
Tap Setup, and follow the on-screen pairing process to reconnect your Imagix Crystal Ball to Wi-Fi.

During setup, the device will let you choose between Ellie or Ember.
What Happens When You Switch
- Your profile and progress remain saved in the app.
- The device is re-paired as if it were new, so you can select a new character.
- Any in-story progress with the previous character will remain tied to your profile and can be restored in future updates.
Coming Soon
Later software updates will introduce Instant Character Swap, allowing you to switch between Ellie and Ember directly from the app without resetting or re-pairing the device.
